Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar informed that the budget of the agricultural ministry has increased to Rs. 1.34 lakh crore from Rs. 12000 crore in 2009-10, which is nearly 11 times that of the previous government. Here he was addressing the 4th Annual Convention on Virtual Capital Market & Commodity Market: Role of Financial Markets in Building Aatmanirbhar Bharat by PHDCCI.
It is to be noted that recently the government suffered massive outrage by the opposition regarding the newly made farm laws, as there are apprehensions by the opposition that these laws will hurt the farmer’s interests on their produce.
Speaking about the commitment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for the welfare of the farmers he said, by increasing the budget, the government has shown that they are spending on procurement of the farm produce. He also added that, “There has been continuous progress of villages, farmers, poor and agriculture since Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken over charge in 2014. The budget of the agriculture ministry was just Rs 12,000 crore in 2009-10, which has been increased 11-folds to Rs 1.34 lakh crore because of the commitment of the Prime Minister towards farmers and agriculture”. Along with this he also informed that the President has given its approval to the new labour codes.
