Following the recent attacks by the extremists in the European countries, the government of Britain has raised the country’s terrorism threat level to “severe” which earlier was at “substantial”. The raised threat level is the second highest of the five, which means an attack is “highly likely”. The domestic intelligence service MI5 has announced the latest development on its website.
The Interior minister Priti Patel took to twitter and informed that, “This is a precautionary measure and is not based on any specific threat. The public should continue to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the police”.
The Joint Terrorism Analysis Center (JTAC), which comprises of the domestic intelligence service MI5, the overseas counterpart MI6 and the police, took the decision.
