Floating solar power project: Marching its way ahead to achieve the aim of Orissa Renewable Energy Policy, 2016 under which the state is said to achieve the target of 2,200 MW solar and 550 MW non-solar renewable energy projects by 2022. The GEDCOL (Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Limited) and the NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) on Monday signed an agreement to form a joint venture under which they will be installing a floating solar power project having the capacity of 500 MW. Under the UMREPPs (Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Parks scheme) of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy they will be carrying the project in a phased manner across various reservoirs of Odisha.
