As per latest data released by the Union ministry of finance, the GST collection for the month of August 2020 stood at Rs 86,449 crore out of which Rs 15,906 crore is the CGST, Rs 21,064 crore is the SGST, Rs 42,264 crore is the IGST and Rs 7,215 crore is the Cess. The revenue collected for the month is nearly 12% less than that of the previous year’s collection for the same duration, following the 23% less collection from the import of goods and 8% less collection from the domestic transactions. If we look at the total revenue that is earned by the Central Government and the State Governments after the settlement in August 2020, for CGST is Rs 34,122 crore and that for SGST is Rs 35,714 crore.
